Courtney Balestier writer and journalist Courtney Balestier is a writer and journalist. A generalist disposed to obsession with matters culinary and cultural, she has written about a range of topics that includes seed savers, David Lynch's quinoa recipe and the enduring appeal of ranch dressing. Her work has appeared in a variety of publications, including Lucky Peach, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Gastronomica, Saveur, the Oxford American, New York, Wired and the website of Food & Wine. Her writing is anthologized in Cornbread Nation 7: The Best of Southern Food Writing (UGA Press, 2014).

Courtney holds a bachelor's degree in news journalism from West Virginia University and a master's degree in magazine journalism from New York University. Originally from West Virginia, she lives and works in Detroit.
